"The Good, Bad and Ugly of Foster Parenting"

If you are interested in becoming a NYC foster parent, or are just curious about the foster care system, please join us for an eye-opening information session and discussion led by two foster mothers who are co-founders of Nourishing Hearts.

Partners and spouses are welcome. Dinner will be served. The program will be from 6-7:30pm. Attendees are welcome to arrive as early as 5:30pm.

Pre-Thanksgiving Family Dinner

Our annual Pre-Thanksgiving Family Dinner is a family-style event that features a fine dining experience for youth in foster care. Our goals for the event are to give the kids a sense of family and joy during the holidays, and to give the kids a fine dining experience.

Christmas Sip 'n Paint

Our annual fun-filled Christmas holiday program for children in foster care (ages 8-16) to: 1) give the kids a sense of holiday spirit family and joy during the holidays, and also 2) spark their potential creative interest in arts, singing, and games.

Prom Dreams 2026

Prom Dreams is a “say yes to the dress”-inspired annual event for NYC teen girls and boys who are currently living in foster care, to help them find something special to wear for prom, graduation, or another special educational milestone event. We are so proud of our NYC youth and want to help them celebrate their educational milestone event in style by looking and feeling their best for the special occasion.

Back-to-School BBQ and Glam Up

Objective: A family event to help the kids bring out their swag with a nice hair cut (professional barbers and hair stylists will be on-site to provide free services for the children). Pre-registration is required.

Annual Prom Dreams 2025

Objective: A “Say Yes to the Dress” themed event to help the kids find their perfect dresses and suits to celebrate their educational milestones such as graduation and prom. Formal dresses and suits are generously donated by professionals.


Did you know? Fact: Many graduating seniors in high school do not attend prom because they don’t have the appropriate attire. Less than 10% of foster youth pursue higher education and of that 10%, only 3% graduate with a four-year degree.

Easter Party

This event is tailored for foster youth to enjoy an Easter-themed fun-filled afternoon with a range of activities including an egg hunt, egg painting, arts & crafts, three-legged race, tug of war and enjoyable food to celebrate the holiday. This event will be held outdoors at Baisley Park in Queens.
